In retrospect, this is the gayest thing I've done all week...

ha ha.

This is what I came home to in my room at 4am after driving back from seattle after a not-so-great show. Pretty good one. You see, Charlie and I put this giant, ugly wooden giraffe on my sisters porch as part of a prank/disposing of a wooden giraffe that was on charlie and maggies porch. So it's my birthday soon you see...

Billy Cobham vs. Travis Barker

This guy I work with asked me who I thought the "best" drummer was. This is a stupid conversation for so many reasons, but I don't have that much invested in this person so I said "Billy Cobham". At which point he told me, no, in fact, the answer is that dude from that band Blink 182. I'll give Billy Cobham an obvious handicap with the ancient footage/sound quality. I'll give blink 182 guy a handicap because he, his bandmates, his fans, and his camera people/editors (nice shot of the Molson Ice stadium and that 13 year old girls ass!) are not that bright. YOU DECIDE!

Ngyuen Thi Buch Thuy: 'Just Give Me The Damn Sepak Takraw Ball'

Well, at least he's not using scare tacti... oh, um

Yeah, that's right! I got this ad off of "God Tube". You'll never guess what that website is all about! Deep religious people seem to fear originality almost as much as their all-powerful creator (whichever one that might be).

Debate

Obama KILLED IT tonight on CNN. Fuck it. They both killed it, but Barack clearly had the upper hand. I can't believe this country might finally come out of a nose-dive that was the bush presidency...

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!

My girlfriend Kelly-Jo and I are going to have a romantic evening together. We have ordered a heart-shaped pizza from Poppa Murphy's as well as 4 boxes of sugar-gravy filled chocolate surprise balls and 4 romantic comedies that star Jennifer Anistown (Anneston?) and her puffy boyfriend. We will get real bloated and farty and have tedious sex with each other. Here are some pictures from last year (aint she a fox!)

LA times Pt.1

Ingrid picked us up at the bob hope airport. Her parents had a pool. I needed the sun real bad. went to the MOCA, got let in to the Murakami excibit because some kid working there recognized charlie. became crunked at ingrids cousins house on a gallon of manhattan. paid $11 to see an old hippie in sombody's back yard. john riess' new band is "goin for it". Lots of terrifying driving. did some green screening. played with gossip at the smell. the sound was awfull, kinda ruined our show but whatevz. MTV was there and they tried to make the place look like an "exciting" venue. charlie threw change at the camera man. Mika Miko was great. got up real early again, went on KXLU and had a blast with this really hilarious girl that was DJing. went back to Bob Hope and the dark haired man in the army shirt I was travelling with got searched. free wine on the plane.

Mabes I've been looking at too much porn but...

Doesn't this Jay-Z ad look a bit like an almost-completely-wrapped-up porn scene? Oh Jay-Z, that is some bizarre psychology you are pulling on us.

Cool Gap ad!

yeah, fuck these assholes too...

Black Kids

When I hear hype about a band as much as Black Kids have gotten and then I actually get around to hearing it...what am I trying to say here...basically this music is so bad it makes me feel like my reality is a farce. It would be alright if they just landed from the planet KlegZgorn 7 and hadn't heard "western earth style alternative" music from the years 1986-1998, but I don't think that was the case.
It's a pretty genius name though. I mean, who's going to say "I hate Black Kids"

STP, not the gas gas gas...

I'm sure that I am going to catch a lot of flack for this one, but oh well. Does anyone remember this song? I recall being a bit surprised by liking a song by the Stone Temple Pilots at the time, but going back now, holy crap. This is from 1996. Let me put this in perspective for you. Alanis Morrisette and Smashing Pumpkins are selling a shit ton of records. People still watch MTV and MTV still plays videos. Julian Casablancas is still in boarding school. So for no reason, Stone Temple Pilots climbs out of their faux-grunge radio rock sewer with this completely raw and in my opinion amazing song. And the video! What T fuck!? You cant really tell on the youtube but its shot in this shitty, flourecent lit 80's tape stock with all this deliberately cheesy and half-assed editing. NINETEEN NINETY SIX!
Then, they promptly go back to being shit

psych TV

I just broke my TV and now it just looks real psychedelic no matter what, which is actually better than most programming. Oh well. Probs for the better...

Do you want to smell like "really ripped abs" or a black man?

OMAR SOLEYMAN (REPOST)

Charlie already tossed this on his blog but I have to spread it. Blinding music plus his entourage is the shit. The guy in the leather jacket behind him thats whispering security junkets to him makes James Brown's cape chauffeur look like a fuckin' midwife. Also, everyone dances like conjoined quintuplets. Intense.

Tossed salad and scrambled eggs!

I don't really have anything else that interesting going on, so here is an interview from a recent episode of Static TV in New Orleans of Panther. Also, Thank you Seattle for an amazing show last night. You have restored my faith in your city. And Frazier.

a-free-na rock

My friend Rynne called me the other day to tell me I was on the guest list for the upcoming Tool concert at the Memorial Coliseum. She has been dating the drummer Danny Carrey for a while and last time I was in LA she flaked out so whatever, I acted like I knew about it and thought it might be fun.
I realized when my friend and I got there that I had never been to a bonefied "rock concert" in my life. Only about a half a billion punk shows and many many large (but now in retrospect, small) mid-stream indie shows.
It was weird. Parking was $10, beer was $8 and it was one of the more uptight atmospheres I had experienced i a while. We couldn't get backstage until after the show so my Friend Kelsey and I had to decide if we wanted to stick around the whole time for the possibility of free booze. We did. Security guards we assholes, strange, talkative douchebags and hippies kept taking our seats every time we got up, and it smelled like shitty pot everywhere. But there were lazers and we eventually got shuffled into some strange backstage area where there was, in fact, free booze and a lot of slightly puffier old friends.

done

16,500 miles later...

We are done with this segment of preserved adolecence. I'm a bit wrecked, so to summerize, we only were allowed 25 free drinks in Denton (the rest we had to pay for), Austin has a good climate for outdoor rocking and photo-grapes (emo's) and my cousin and cousin and cousin-in-law are still great, New Orleans has initiated the legalization of Absynth into their tourism recovery efforts (thanks for nothing) and florida isn't as far away from illinoise as I remember but much farther from new orleans with an un-godly hangover. I'm fantasizing about my bed.

Encore!

So when architecture got done at the troubadour in LA the peeps wanted an encore (is that how you spell that word? it doesn't look right). But those dudes dont have any more songs so charlie and I came back out and made everyone REAL HAPPY! fuck that place.

PANTHER LOVES LISA

We dropped off our friend lisa (writer/merch extrordinaire) yesterday with a middle-aged drummer in the desert. She came with us for just over a week. It was real hilarious to watch her deteriorate so quickly. She went went from a glowing, positive human specimine to an alchohol ravaged hater in just 8 days. Thanks panther!
But really, she was awesome to have along and we hope she cleans up in Nicaragua.

Nicest dudes in the world

After driving all day, per usual, and in LA and San diego traffic (i guess there was a gunfight on the highway) we pulled up to the house of blues in San diego and ran in to find out if we should load in etc.. We werent in there for 2 minutes before getting slapped with a $65 ticket for "double parking". 6 members of the staff stood outside and watched this happen. Then the club refused to reimburse us for the ticket (they also had told us to park there in the first place) THE POINT OF THIS IS then the architecture in Helsinki dudes took up a collection later that night to pay for the ticket. Fuck. That was so unbelievably sweet I almost cried..........

House of Douche

Brap Bray Ba BAAh bom bum. bum bum. bum bum...

Thanks for taking pictures Ingrid

a picture of a picture of a picture of a picture im bored

fillmore good, troubadour bad

From legitimately famous places (the Fillmore in SF, Jerry's dead Jim Morrison's handsome ghost) to illegitimately gross-o shit holes (the troubadour LA, motley crue's cum stains and shit smears and Jim Morrison's bloated in a bathtub ghost). I don't care either way. Just do not be a jerk to me.
